  5. This demonstration illustrates the speed of the Atari blitter at performing 
  6. bit orientated memory moves. 
  7.  
  8. On an STe configured for PAL, BOINGSTE operates at 50 frames per second
  9. compared to about 4 frames per second doing the same operation with only
  10. the MC 68000 in use. 
  11.  
  12. Timing factors may upset the program on an NTSC machine.  To overcome 
  13. this problem, we suggest you run the 50/60 Hz patch file in your AUTO
  14. folder.  This program was placed in the public domain to overcome some
  15. of the early problems associated with Spectrum 512 on the European PAL
  16. machines.

  18. A stereo sample has been included with this demonstration.  This has 
  19. been sampled at 6258Hz, demonstrating the superb sound quality that can
  20. be obtained with an STe at a relatively low sample rate.

  22. At any one time, approximately 400 colours are being displayed on the
  23. screen.

  25. TO OPERATE:

  27. -       Double-click on BOINGSTE.PRG to launch this demonstration.
  28.         Yes!  BOINGSTE may be launched in either low or medium resolution.
  29.  
  30. -       Toggle the SPACE BAR to pause the colour cycling.  Pressing the
  31.         Q key will exit BOINGSTE and return you to the desktop.
  32.  
  33. -       Be sure to connect your Atari STe to the loudest "ghetto blaster"
  34.         you can place your hands on and pump up the volume.  Enjoy!
